Joseph Cox

We’re v excited to be welcoming local artist Joseph Cox back to Beverley for his new “Digital Vistas” exhibition. Joe is a graphic artist and illustrator based in Hull.

His work often features bold colour pallets, frequently inspired by technology, music, industry, science, architecture, infrastructure and museum collections. He’ll often dig around in museum collections and blogs on vintage equipment and recombine shapes and ideas.

For some pieces he will sketch ideas or compositions first but often will just jump straight in and start illustrating the shapes and forms of something that’s caught his interest and then the composition and final direction reveals itself later.

Originally from Beverley, where he spent his youth and then leaving to study graphic design at Northumbria University in Newcastle.

After university, he settled in Hull as a graphic designer but shifted over time towards art and illustration, eventually going freelance and setting up Form Shop & Studio. His illustration work has included work for vinyl records, music festivals such as Humber Street Sesh and Slam Dunk, museum materials and the Hull City of Culture bid.

Join us on Friday 30 July 6-8pm for our opening celebration event.
